An artist is defined as a person skilled at a particular task or occupation. As a Master Cosmetologist, Educator, Beauty Consultant, and Modeling Coach, Tanya Crumel-Singleton has mastered the art of creating exquisite looks for clients, print, and production; no matter the platform, she has proven more than capable. Tanya has taken her passion for hair and fashion and perfected her craft while proving that you can take artistry and build viable businesses doing what you love, enhancing the beauty in people and the world around you. Tanya was born in New York, but moved to Birmingham at the age of 5 years with her mom, sister, and brother. Tanya completed her intermediate education in the Birmingham City Public School System. Tanya’s passion for hair, which began at an early age, made attending cosmetology school an obvious choice. Her creativity, artistry, and ability to foresee style trends garnered the attention of one of the country’s top stylists, Kevin Kirk. Kevin Kirk, being a trailblazer himself, saw the enormous potential for Tanya to grow, fostered and encouraged Tanya and nurtured her natural abilities as she developed her passion as well as built her brand in the industry. Tanya has spent numerous hours outside of the salon competing in area competitions, showcases, classes, and workshops. Her work has been featured in print as well as production in well-known magazines such as Black Hair Magazine and Modern Salon Magazine. Tanya has also been featured in cinema in the movie, “Chris Rock’s Good Hair” and in BETJ’s reality series, “Tears, Sheers, and Beauty.” Tanya, being a platform artist, is no stranger to competition, in particular, the esteemed, Bronner Brothers Hair Competitions. Tanya competed as Kevin Kirk’s assistant in 3 winning competitions. She also competed individually three times and as a salon once, winning the salon battle. Her experience shows that not only is she capable of being an excellent and supportive team player, but also, a very capable team leader; either way, being the best is the ultimate goal.
